It gives me great comfort to know that I am providing great comfort to my pets.
I have purchased little beds for Mac the Cat, but he prefers sleeping on top of the heat vent or curled in a ball on the pillow on my bed.
I have purchased beds and mats for Walter but he prefers to scratch the carpet while turning in circles until it is just right to stretch out on the floor and go to sleep.
But Henry likes his beds. When we moved up here from San Diego, we left our giant outdoor dog beds behind as they had seen their day.
In the Bay Area, the weather is not conducive to keeping dog beds outdoors; however, we do keep one hammock-style bed outside on the covered part of the deck.
Henry hangs in it.
Henry also has his very own couch - right smack in the middle of our living room. This is an old leather couch that we don't even sit on anymore because Henry has taken it over. It's really starting to look shabby and I long to replace it with a stylish, fabric couch. I haven't done it yet because guilt gets the best of me as I know that Henry will mourn the loss of his favorite perch.
So, here's my attempt to wean Henry off the living room couch. I purchased a nice, therapeutic, couch-like dog bed. My hope is that he decides to use that bed and spend less and less time on the leather couch. He seems to like it well enough. Take a look:
But will it last? Will I be able to get my new couch without the guilt that I am taking away Henry's favorite comfy couch? Fingers crossed.
